Responsibility requires corresponding authority. Therefore, the responsibilities and authorities of your P&MS should always be thought of together and correspond to each other. In particular, if you expect your P&MS to make decisions, they need authority to do so.<\/p>\n

It is advisable to think through and assign authority systematically and coherently along the business process and hierarchy levels in the organization. This can best be done by going through all the usual business transactions. Who should be allowed to decide in which business case up to which scale? Who should be involved in these decisions?<\/p>\n

This is a logical diligence. So you don’t have to start from scratch, you can use this template for an authorization scheme. In the fields of this matrix, insert the release limits you want to grant in your company so that responsibility can be exercised. The structure of this matrix provides on the abscissa the operational functions that you can adapt according to your organizational structure. Along the ordinate are the main business transactions that usually occur in companies. You can also customize these to suit your needs.<\/p>\n

Once you have sensibly assigned the authorities, if possible with the involvement of the persons responsible from the operational functions, have the owners of these operational functions sign for it in order to introduce the matrix in a binding manner.<\/p>\n
