The SMART principle is a good way to do this: <strong>S<\/strong>pecific, <strong>M<\/strong>easurable, <strong>C<\/strong>hallenging,<strong> R<\/strong>ealistic, and <strong>T<\/strong>imed. Make sure that the goals are really bindingly agreed upon with each other.
