Depending on how much you want to shape your environment and are able to do so, you can choose a shaper strategy or an adaptor strategy. Most organizations have elements of both, with one or the other form of strategy dominating.
You can also strategically differentiate yourself with your competence. Accordingly, you will focus on, communicate, and make full use of your competence as a sales leader, an infrastructure leader, an innovation leader, a design leader, as a leader in relationship management, as a service leader, or as a cost leader. Certain combinations are possible, but you cannot be the leader in all areas at the same time. That would lead to conflicts.
