Relevance of leadership: Why leadership is essential

Both the ongoing development of the business model and the strategies, which are adapted to the environment, and the implementation of measures and the operational business are carried out by employees. Business success depends to a large extent on the committed, channeled and well-coordinated efforts of employees. The quality of motivation and the alignment and coordination of activities are influenced by the quality of leadership. This realization gives leadership as a function a central importance.

If we look inside companies, we find that many employees follow a “work to rule” principle (approx. 2/3) and some have already “quit internally” (one in 6). Lack of emotional commitment to the company also triggers a large part of absenteeism. It also adds to feelings of stress and burnout. The total damage to the German economy adds up to about EUR 120 billion. The Gallup Institute has been coming to this conclusion for many years. Triggers of a lack of employee loyalty and motivation are usually the direct managers.
