With the help of morphological analysis, a systematic heuristic creativity technique, solution paths for complex challenges can be completely determined in their characteristics and combinations. As an aid, a so-called morphological box is created, a table in whose top line all the characteristics of a solution (e.g., “material”, “size”, “connectivity”, etc.) are entered and in whose columns all the possible forms that these characteristics can take are then entered (e.g., “steel”, “aluminium”, “plastic” or “large”, “medium”, “small”). Subsequently, different solution variants can be combined by connecting individual expressions along the characteristics and then evaluated. A morphological analysis can be used to systematically extract a few reasonable variants from the totality of all possible combinations as a decision template.
